Christian Background and Beliefs
Please read carefully our Statement of Faith and Beliefs and indicate your degree of support.
St. John’s is a family of believers who have been called to faith by the power of the Holy Spirit through the preaching of the Holy Gospel and the administration of the sacraments. We celebrate God’s gift of faith through our worship and by our fellowship with each other. We seek to develop and apply the gifts God has given us to that we can spread the message of God’s redeeming love through Jesus Christ to our community and through the world.
St. John’s Lutheran School is a part of the Lutheran church – Missouri Synod which teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God:
- the Father, creator of all that exists,
- Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and
- the Holy Spirt, who creates faith through God’s word and Sacraments.
We Believe
- That the entire Bible is the Word of God given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
- That Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave to pay the penalty for our sins so that we may have eternal life.
- That the sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) are means by which the Spirit of God comes to His people to create and nourish faith.
