Director of Infection Control and Nursing Education designs, implements, and directs organization wide infection prevention protocols and nursing education programs. Manages infection control and nursing education. Consults with the senior executives and medical staff regarding infections, is a member of the Infection Control Committee, and is a member of the Association of Infection Professionals and Epidemiology.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct development, implementation and management of the Infection Prevention and Control program.

Assure compliance with infection control guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Directly supervise those who conduct surveillance rounds at campuses to ensure accuracy and timely completion.

Expert effective leadership in promotion of medical asepsis and oversee proper safeguards against the transmission of infection.

Create infection control protocols, standard work, and communication to all RBH employees.

Review and update staff education in relation to Employee Health (TB, Bloodborne pathogen exposures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, manager needs).

Interpret and recommend isolation policies and procedures for the organization.

Annually review and revise the Infection Control Manual, Joint Commission (JC) binders and materials, and policies, more frequently reviewed as needed.
Manage Nursing education and orientation programs.

Collaborate with team of clinical nurse educators to deliver educational programs that integrate nursing scientific and theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles, and clinical nurse expertise.

Focus on quality of patient-centered care and safety goals in all education and training projects.

Assist in designing and implementing evaluation instruments including assignments and test to determine effectiveness of training delivered by clinical nurse educators.
Participate in Rogers health and safety initiatives – GoPro, Environment of Safety Committee.

Work closely with the safety officers to participate in emergency management/disaster response planning.

Contact for State/JC in relation to Employee Health requirements.

Review all Employee Health (EH) policies and make necessary changes annually.
Promote department goals as well as the mission of Rogers.

Communicate goals to fellow staff members.

Maintain department policies and procedures.

Include requirements and guidelines from external agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services (CMS), OSHA and State of Wisconsin).

Maintain and/or communicate to the appropriate party, a function backlog at a set time.

Educate new staff regarding regulations or requirements of those functions that relate to their areas or departments, as directed.

Demonstrate acceptance and training of student interns in the department, as directed.

Education/Training Requirements:

BSN is required. Current license in good standing as a registered nurse by the State of Wisconsin.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience infection control preferred.

Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience.

Understanding of Joint Commission, Center for Disease Control (CDC) and related regulations and/or requirements.

Valid driver’s license is required. Must be granted insurable status by the Rogers Memorial Hospital insurance policy.
