Mitchell & Ness is looking for a Jr. Accountant to perform general accounting duties, including but not limited to preparing and maintaining financial reports and records, processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and general ledger bookkeeping.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares documents such as journal entries, monthly reports, and financial statements.
- Maintains finance reports, records, and general ledger.
- Supports record-to-report process, including the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting transactions required to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements.
- Assists with monthly close activities.
- Assists with the preparation of internal financial statements and related analyses for use by senior management.
- Processes credit card lockbox transactions and receipts.
- Processes accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assists in implementing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Prepares and analyzes budget.
- Analyzes assigned expense accounts and researches variances from the budget. Prepares entries for appropriate corrections or accruals.
- Performs general bookkeeping.
- Participates in special accounting projects, as assigned.
- Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude, and teamwork with customers, peers, and management.
- Demonstrates a high level of quality work, attendance, and appearance.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
- Adheres to local, state and federal laws.
- Domestic travel may be needed.
- Ability to work varied hours, nights, days, and weekends to support the business needs.
REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or 1-3 years related Accounting experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Retail and Wholesale accounting are a plus.
- Experience with NetSuite +.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organization and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and independently.
The salary range for this position is $55,000- $61,500, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
