History
The Highlander School is an anti bias nature centered learning community thats draws its inspiration from the Reggio Educators and is first and foremost, a center of inquiry -- for children, families and staff. Our teachers are early learning professionals dedicated to celebrating the wonders of childhood alongside children, while also, deepening their practice with children through regular reflection and study. As a center, we are committed to our vision of The Highlander School as a place where:
Children are valued for their ability to do meaningful work, their wonder and curiosity, their perspectives, and ability to play.
Families are valued for their bonds and traditions, their ability to play, their commitment to work, home and community, and their dreams for their children
Staff are valued for their vision, their delight in children, their skill and knowledge, their commitment to families
We are seeking educators who are passionate, creative, intentional, reflective in their work and share a deep respect for children. In addition to managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom, these educators will also ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment where children are actively engaged in a process of inquiry about the world.Teachers must also be eager to participate in a democratically managed organization, where they themselves are continually learning and growing as professionals and are supporting others in this effort. We seek teachers who are eager to grow their practice as researchers, learners, facilitators, celebrators and collaborators in this incredible field of joy and wonder in the lives of young children and their families.
