Overview:
The Executive Housekeeper manages operations and provides leadership and direction for all Environmental Services in a large hospital setting. This position is responsible for assigning work, overseeing budget activity, and leading quality inspection to ensure compliance with all federal regulations and organizational guidelines. The Executive Housekeeper serves as a role model for supervisors and staff by promoting and upholding the organization’s mission and values.
We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills and housekeeping experience in a hospital and/or healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
- Be held operationally accountable for environmental services department at this facility.
- Facilitate cooperative relationships and integrate environmental services into the operations of the hospital.
- Lead the work activities of environmental services staff including supervisors, leads, trainers, and entry-level employees.
- Provide leadership that supports employee development and encourages a positive work environment.
- Participate in interviewing and hiring employees, coach and counsel for employee performance, and conduct disciplinary actions as needed.
- Communicates with employees at all levels in periodic staff meetings.
- Oversee inspection and staff training procedures to maintain compliance with standards and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that work is performed on time and in compliance with both internal and external requirements.
- Monitor staffing levels, plan work schedule, and ensure efficient use of staff, supplies and equipment to maintain operations.
- Establish and regularly review work procedures with a focus on patient, visitor, and customer experience.
- Manages client relationships: resolves issues, coordinates requests, and establishes processes to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain budget, monitor purchasing, and prepare related financial data.
- Develop reports of outcomes of performance toward department goals.
- Sustain successful third-party survey results, and compliance with internal safety guidelines from the Health and Safety department.
- Participate in the hospital’s Infection Control Committee.
Requirements:
- Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) required, or eligibility for certification within 6 months of hire.
- 3-5 years of housekeeping management experience in a hospital/healthcare setting required.
- 5-8 years of management/supervisory experience required.
- Experience developing budgets with understanding of relevant requirements.
- Strong administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to function and interface with all levels of management.
- Excellent written and oral communication, listening and empathy, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time, organize and prioritize tasks.
- High level of concentration and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills focused on quality, safety, and exceeding expectations.
