Examples of Tasks
- Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
- Prepare merchandise for purchase or rental.
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Demonstrate use or operation of merchandise
- Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
- Ticket, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales.
- Inventory stock and requisition new stock.
- Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
- Clean shelves, counters, and tables.
- Answer customers’ questions and provide information.
- Stock shelves, sort, and reshelve returned items, and mark prices on items and shelves.
- Inform maintenance personnel when equipment is not working properly.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in coolers, warehouse, or sales floor.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouse.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or on computer.
- Mark items, using identification tags or other labeling equipment.
- Provide assistance or direction to other Stock Associates.
- Dispose of damaged or defective items or return them to vendors.
- Reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager.
