At The Coalition we aim to improve the quality of life and create hope for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our ultimate goal is to provide victims with alternative ways of coping with physical and/or emotional abuse through education, counseling, shelter, non-judgmental emotional support, and housing assistance.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The ROPP Therapist provides assessment, individual counseling, family counseling, and/or group counseling to minors involved with County of Ventura Probation Agency. This includes both short term therapy and crisis counseling as consistent with the organization’s philosophy, the client’s best interest and the therapist’s scope of practice. You will be required to pass an extensive background check conducted by the County of Ventura Probation Agency. Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desired but not required. Open to Associates (AMFT, APCC, ACSW) and Licensed (LMFT, LPCC, LCSW) therapists/clinical counselors/psychologists.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree in clinical field REQUIRED. Emphasis is on learning casework and treatment methods appropriate to Coalition’s Clinical program, procedures, and policies as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
JOB CLASSIFICATION AND APPROXIMATE SALARIES:
- THERAPIST I: 1 to 3 year Associate ($30 to $34 hourly rate)
Under CLINICAL SUPERVISION of a California Board of Behavioral Sciences Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Provides clinical and administrative services to minors, victims and survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault with therapy (individual, family, or group), case management, and interagency collaboration.
- THERAPIST II: 3 to 5 year Associate ($34 to $39 hourly rate)
Under CLINICAL SUPERVISION of a California Board of Behavioral Sciences Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Provides clinical and administrative services to minors, victims and survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault with therapy (individual, family, or group), case management, and interagency collaboration. Experience can be obtained by at least 2 years as a THERAPIST I with Coalition for Family Harmony or an equivalent position with a comparable program and related experience.
- THERAPIST III: Licensed DOE ($39 to $44 hourly rate)
A registered California Board of Behavioral Sciences Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Provides advanced level clinical and administrative services and treatment to minors, victims and survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault with therapy (individual, family, or group), case management, and interagency collaboration.
Essential Functions
- Provides Therapy to youth on probation and support persons as needed.
- Attends required individual and group supervision with appropriate Clinical Supervisor (Associates only).
- Conducts client intakes and collects required documentation.
- Prepares client assessments and progress notes, submits weekly notes, treatment plans, exit interview and other client documentation in Theranest; facilitates case management.
- Collaborates with outside agencies regarding counseling, victim resources, and other miscellaneous needs to offer appropriate referrals to clients.
- Advocates for client needs with law enforcement, district attorney’s office and other outside agencies.
- Reports group or individual participation and progress by preparing weekly and monthly statistical and progress reports on all clients for program management.
- Conducts psychoeducational/support groups as needed.
- Attends weekly staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Management or other members of Leadership.
Schedule
- The schedule for this position is developed with the reporting manager based on program needs; full time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Occasional weekends may be required.
Certifications
- May obtain Domestic Violence Counselor certification that meets the requirements under California Evidence Code 1037.1 within one year of hire date.
- May obtain Sexual Assault Counselor certification that meets the requirements under California Evidence Code 1305.2 within one year of hire date.
- Must complete agency LGBTQ+ 101 cultural sensitivity training within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge Base/Skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired but not required
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of general office equipment is required.
- Must demonstrate strong crisis management skills
- Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Must be able to demonstrate working effectively with and showing respect to all survivors of violence, including those from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socioeconomic, sexual preferences and/or identities, gender identities/expression, and political backgrounds.
- Must demonstrate ability to navigate crisis and solving problems independently, using best judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Must utilize assertiveness, professionalism, and non-violent communication when handling issues with clients or staff.
Other Information
- Must pass extensive background check conducted by the Ventura County Probation Agency and the Coalition. Background investigation may take several weeks.
- Travel may be required for this position.Modes of transportation expected are by car. A valid driver license and auto-insurance are required. Eligible for mile reimbursement.

- This position is considered a Mandated Reporter per the County of Ventura Probation Agency.
