The primary purpose of this position is to provide casework support to Rehabilitation Counselors in the Durham Unit office. The position provides administrative support to managerial, supervisory, professional, and para-professional staff located in this office, and interact with outside agencies, organizations, and vendors, as is needed to assist eligible persons with disabilities to achieve identified goals. The job involves a variety of support functions to include, but not limited to, clerical and accounting tasks, receptionist duties, casework assistance, office operations and records management.
Job responsibilities include the following:
- Process authorizations as directed and record invoices, file documents, follow up with vendors, and prepare routine and ad
hoc reports as needed
- Serve as receptionist for the office, which requires daily contact with the public and answering the telephone
- Be one of the point of contacts for clients/potential clients and maintain knowledge of the services not only of DVR but other
public agencies
- Interact with clients to obtain information at referral for the purpose of completing the initial application and/or providing
services during the rehabilitation process
- Gather and compile additional information as identified by the counselor to aid in providing sufficient information for the
Counselors’ assessment and eligibility determination
- Make follow-up phone calls to customers to remind of scheduled appointments & process and distribute incoming and
outgoing mail
- Operate various office equipment – personal computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, and other
equipment as needed
