Job Title: Bilingual Community School Coordinator
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Bilingual Community School Coordinator provides the following services in Montgomery County, MD.
Part-time, Days and Evenings, Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm some evenings might be required to meet with families/students.
Summary of Responsibilities
Coordinate services, events, and activities for a school-based mental health and social services program offered in collaboration with elementary and middle schools, and the county’s Department of Health and Human Services in the Gaithersburg and Germantown school/community region.
Responsibilities
Community Outreach:
- Plans and coordinates outreach/prevention programming and other support services for parents/families within school community environment.
- Coordinates psycho-educational, recreational and literacy programming (ongoing groups, classes or workshops) on topics such as acculturation, parenting, English as a second language, computer skills, health education, etc.
- Plans and implements special events such as clothing drives or summer family events.
- Conducts resource development in order to identify additional community partners or resources.
- Public speaking
- Provides information/referral services.
Collaborative Responsibilities:
- Coordinates provider/school personnel team meetings at site.
- Coordinates with therapist, case manager, school staff and community partners in providing comprehensive care.
- Serves as liaison between school, community, local businesses/donors and county-wide network of services.
Administrative:
- Office Management (includes maintaining office equipment/supplies)
- Manages and tracks client assistance/flex funds budget.
- Recruits, selects, trains and supervises volunteers
- Orients new staff to site procedures
- Monitors attendance at activities
- Attends regular supervision and staff meetings with the agency supervisor
- Attends monthly Community Service Aide and Community Service Coordinator meetings
- Attends collaborative and agency trainings and retreats
- Staffs at least one weekend agency outreach booth shift per year
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Work experience in related field required
Excellent leadership and collaboration skills
Desire to work with a diverse array of families and professionals
Related experience required (internship experience considered)
Must be able to demonstrate written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish.
Experience working within collaborative school-based models of service delivery is preferred.
Prior experience/equivalent knowledge of immigrant populations & acculturation issues and thorough knowledge of community resources in Montgomery County is preferred.
