JOB SUMMARY
- The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for Identifying faults within the subscriber drop, feeder/distribution and trunk systems to ensure proper signal level, picture quality and compliance with all local, state, federal and MaxxSouth requirements and standards.
- The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for auditing the system and terminate unauthorized connections.
- The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for activating new plant and perform preliminary proof.
- The Maintenance Technician reports to the Technical Operations Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Maintenance Technician is accountable for the following items:
- Performing overall troubleshooting of cable television service.
- Identifying and repair various feeder cable, using Volt Ohm Meter, signal level meters including QAM and analog signals, time domain reflection meter and return system test equipment.
- Identifying and repair fiber and nodes using OTDRS and power meters.
- Interfacing with customers to provide them with knowledge of existing and new services in a professional manner.
- Performing Digital and High Definition installs and service calls using DTV, HDMI and component video connections.
- Performing HSD cable modem installs and service calls working with Windows XP, 98 and NT operating systems.
- Repairing signal leakage and decimation.
- Splicing all types of cable as required.
- Understanding of RF design and system prints.
- Responsible for the completion of all daily service installation activity scheduled…including completion of work orders, sales orders, vehicle reports and other required paperwork.
- Safely operating all equipment essential to complete work, including but not limited to extension ladders and bucket trucks and staying within safety weight limits in inclement weather.
- Performing Standby system service (on-call) as scheduled by the technical services group.
- Following the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO and safety guidelines, at all times;
- Other duties as deemed necessary and are within acceptable margins of the department's goals
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED – required
- Minimum two (2) years prior cable technical experience.
- Computer literate with knowledge of Windows software.
- General knowledge of residential Cable TV, Internet, and Phone services – Required
- Formal electronics training, NCTI, SCTE Certification or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift minimum of 75 lbs.
- Customer relation skills.
- Team oriented
- Must be team oriented, self-motivated and well organized.

- Overtime may be required; On-call rotation may be required.
