In Home Mental Health Counselor
Position Overview
Seeking an in-home counselor/clinician to provide mental health and counseling services to adults, children, and families including assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based clinical and counseling interventions, with thorough documentation of diagnoses, treatment needs, and services provided. Families who are referred for this program are involved with the State of Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) due to allegations of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The in-home services program is designed to aid families who are either at risk of alternative child placement (out of home) or whose children were previously removed from the home and are in the process of being reunified with the parent(s). Clinicians also work with relative and non-relative caregivers or foster parents, as referred, to support caregivers in addressing children’s behaviors and to stabilize placements. This position requires the ability to build professional, therapeutic rapport with a range of clients in a community mental health setting. Successful candidates will be able to work effectively as part of a therapeutic team to provide therapy and quality mental health services under supervision of clinical directors. Services are provided in client homes and require transportation and travel within the provider’s assigned counties. Some evening appointments may be required to accommodate client schedules. Office headquarters are based in Lake City, but total catchment area includes Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Gilchrist, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, school counseling, marriage and family therapy or related field
- Driver's license, reliable transportation, and access to a working phone required
- Computer skills including typing and proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel are necessary.
- Experience working with children and families through education, youth service programs, or child welfare systems preferred

Essential Duties
- Perform mental health/biopsychosocial assessments of symptoms and mental status, clearly documenting diagnoses, strengths, service needs, medical necessity, and goals
- Develop evidence-based clinical treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives and perform treatment plan reviews in accordance with established timelines
- Conduct in-home visits (one hour per week with each client) to provide clinical and supportive services to families within the provider’s assigned counties; Travel is required
- Implement evidence-based clinical/counseling interventions addressing client symptoms and needs for adults, children, and families in an outpatient setting, including thorough documentation of services rendered and client responses to intervention
- Maintain client confidentiality and abide by all policies and requirements related to Personal Health Information and HIPAA requirements
- Correspond with referral sources and complete monthly treatment updates as required
