JOB TITLE: Purchasing Agent
REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB PURPOSE: To provide strong operational and administrative support for the purchasing department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires assisting the Purchasing Department in job costing, establishing budgets, and controlling/reducing costs through value engineering and cost-effective purchasing to facilitate the achievement of the company’s goals. The position will require an ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, be detail oriented, self-sufficient, dependable, the ability to maintain composure under pressure, maintain good judgement, eager to learn and have a professional and supportive attitude.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Assist Purchasing Department in all functions.
- Assist in design center and electronic organization and identification of materials.
- Ability to learn and begin explaining the features and benefits of the products and options requested.
- Assist in documenting options with the appropriate attachments necessary.
- Sense of humor.
- Comfortable working in a team environment.
- Aggressive, and results driven.
- Ability to thrive in a competitive ambitious environment.
- Must have good communication skills with all levels of the team.
EDUCATIONAL AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- One (1) years, minimum, residential construction/school experience in purchasing (Not required)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Resourcefulness, patience and clarity
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity with reading and understanding residential blue prints is preferred.
- Detail oriented
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality relative to daily work schedule is required
- Valid driver’s license
- Accepts constructive feedback
- Team player.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This is an office and field position requiring driving. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry supplies and materials weighing 25 pounds or less.
- Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and telephone equipment.
- Office work requires sitting at a computer monitor for extended periods of time, completing paperwork and to receive/return phone messages.
