Traffic Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise with TxDOT or other State DOT and municipalities in the fields of Traffic Engineering & Design, Transportation Planning, and Illumination Design.
Qualifications
· Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering.
· Demonstrated experience with traffic impact analyses, traffic signal warrant studies, traffic projections, Interstate Access Justification Reports (IAJRs), feasibility studies, safety studies, traffic diversion studies, traffic signal operations, traffic signal design, and signing/pavement markings design.
· Effective time-management, written and verbal communication, planning, organization, interpersonal skills, and ability to solve complex problems.
· Ability to take initiative, work independently, and coordinate efforts with multi-discipline teams.
· Leadership skills and ability to perform business development with new and existing clients.
· Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas, or ability to obtain in 3 months, and ideally also be certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE).
· TxDOT precertifications in Traffic Engineering & Design (7.1.1 through 7.5.1, and 8.1.1, 8.3.1 through 8.6.1) or ability to obtain within 3 months.
· TxDOT precertification in Illumination Design (8.2.1), or ability to obtain within 3 months.
· Demonstrated success in the delivery of transportation projects.
· Ability to collaborate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.
· Demonstrated understanding of design and construction applications with respect to traffic operations.
· Ability to travel and work outside normal business hours as required.
· Proficiency with traffic operations tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, and ArcGIS.
· Proficiency in Illumination Design following the TxDOT Illumination Manual, and the IESNA and AASHTO guidelines for Illumination Design, and proficient in AGI32.
Responsibilities
· Delivery of traffic engineering tasks for TxDOT and municipalities.
· Mentor other junior technical and planning staff.
· Participate in active transportation and complete traffic analyses.
· Collaborate with internal and external technical discipline leads.
· Assist with proposal preparation, business development activities, client communications, and other duties as assigned.
· Participate in stakeholder engagement for public projects.
· Participate in events including meetings, workshops, presentations, and project site tours.
