CUNY Accounting Temp
Position Description:
Temps will be trained at the Office of the University Controller (OUC) to be ready to be deployed for unexpected reasons at any campus (i.e. unexpected resignation or a college that we thought was on the right track in terms of hiring and coverage does not pull through as expected during the FY24 year end close). The primary focus for temps will be to assist CUNY related entities with year-end financial accounting and reporting.
Examples of Specific Responsibilities:
- Prepare year-end journal entries
- Assist with the preparation of year-end bank reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of year-end deliverables requested by OUC
- Assist with the preparation of the general-purpose financial statements
- Analyze all related entity activities particularly related to general ledger and treasury accounting
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare all transactions for funds activities, financial statement data, footnote disclosures and entries as assigned
- Assist in preparing management and financial reports as assigned
- Work on special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Knowledge of GASB reporting requirements strongly preferred
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency using MS Excel spreadsheet functions to perform complex data analyses (vlookup, pivot tables, sorting) strongly preferred
- PeopleSoft ERP systems experience preferred
- Detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation and research skills
- Strong writing, verbal, interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Work effectively individually and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders of various organizational levels, and follow up and complete assignments
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting
- Professional accounting or financial licensure/certification preferred
- At least two (2) years of related experience
Term of Hire:
- Starting around July 1, 2024 to estimated end date of November 15, 2024 (subject to change)
- Total not to exceed 680 hours at 35 hours per week
Job Type: Contract
