Job purpose
The Human Resources Coordinator is a multifaceted role based in Transportation One’s Chicago office. Working directly with HR leadership and business leaders, the role is responsible for leading HR generalist functions including but not limited to: Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefit Administration, and HR Projects. The position is a high visibility role and will act as a main point of contact for employees. A high level of confidentiality and superior customer service skills are critical components of this role.
Duties and responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition (30% with expected increase to support business growth)
- Execute full life cycle recruiting, including the application of behavioral interviewing during initial screening process.
- Partner with hiring managers to define job requirements and determine position Performance Profile for open roles.
- Sit in both entry level and experienced level interviews and provide consultative guidance to hiring manager.
- Conduct onboarding for all new hires, which includes job offer creation, background check screening, and completion of electronic documentation in HRIS.
- Work to ensure HR marketing on social media outlets is conducted and supports talent acquisition objectives.
- Employee Relations (40%)
- Support open door policy and act as resource to address employee questions and concerns.
- Identify methods to enhance the employment experience and collaborate with leaders in implementing solutions.
- Conduct Paycor exit interviews to obtain information related to the employment experience.
- Compensation and Benefits Administration (15%)
- Support Payroll and Benefits Specialist in addressing benefit matters.
- Support annual open enrollment to drive engagement.
- Lead assigned benefit related projects to improve employee benefit utilization experience.
- Update approved salary increases and build reporting as requested.
- HR Projects and Miscellaneous (15%)
- Engage in HR projects as assigned within the scope of this role.
- Support organizational performance management and engagement initiatives, including: annual performance reviews, monthly Pulse coaching program, and quarterly engagement surveys.
- Promote and develop company brand through various social media outlets, including LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related preferred.
- Two to four years of progressively responsible HR generalist experience.
- Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience utilizing HRIS/Payroll systems – Paycor or Paycom preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results.
- Ability to boost morale and encourage employees to grow with the company.
- Ambitious and enthusiastic attitude.
Working conditions
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available.
