Job Description:
AZTEC is currently seeking resumes from qualified Electrical Designers (Engineer-In-Training) for our Phoenix, AZ office. This position is in the office 100% of the time. The position will be providing Electrical Engineering and related CAD support to the Energy Group for their Solar Photovoltaic projects.
The essential functions and responsibilities will be to:
- Perform engineering assignments and tasks
- Compile data
- Perform electrical design computations (cable sizing, protection coordination, arc flash, voltage drop calculations and load flow, thermal calculation for cables, grounding systems),
- Work in PVSyst and mainly prepare engineering CAD plans and construction details based on existing templates.
Works under Project Manager’s supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected. This position will require an individual that is willing to perform a variety of tasks while working independently and as part of a team. At times assist the Project Team in technical meetings and correspondence with clients.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):*
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field.
- A master’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field is a plus
- Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain in 6 months of hire
- Proven experience in electrical design and a minimum of one (1) years' experience with solar photovoltaic projects
- Working toward obtaining PE
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Interpersonal and time-management skills
- Ability to effectively communicate (written & oral) with peers and clients
- Proven experience with AutoCAD design in construction projects
- Full knowledge of NEC code, PVSyst, and experience with circuit sizing calculation tools (ETAP) would be a plus
