Job Site Safety Specialist
This position will report to the Job Site Safety manager and will assist the Safety team to review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and project safety. The Job Site Safety Specialist will help coordinate safety programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries. Support in the facilitation of our safety culture and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals. Work as a team with the General Contractor, delivering timely reports and helping them to maintain a safe job site as a partner on the job.
Responsibilities:
This position will be located at one job site in Mount Pleasant, WI.
- Learn how to interact with field staff and leadership, identify various compliance and safety issues, and encourage hazard recognition to support the company to eliminate all at-risk behaviors. Perform independently once comfortable.
- Respond as a resource of information to employee questions and issues regarding safety
- Assist the on-site Safety Team in developing training topics relevant to the job site and actively participating and facilitating safety meetings with on-site supervision and field staff.
- Participate in accident investigations and review meetings to determine and communicate root causes for future prevention
- Conduct weekly Safety Orientations to new employees on the job site.
- Complete train-the-trainer courses and provide on the job training to employees as requested in the areas of Aerial Lift, Forklift, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety,
and/or Safety designation
- Previous internship or work experience involving safety
preferred
- Preferably 3+ years of experience in construction safety.
- Electrical Safety and Data Center experience is a bonus.
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are
non-negotiable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to gain trust and respect of employees and
supervisors throughout all levels of the organization
- Comfortable in multi-tasking within a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and able to
quick learner to computer programs
