Holy Family Ministries is a unique community that provides educational opportunities for children, youth, and families in Chicago's under-resourced neighborhoods, to excel academically, grow spiritually, expand life experiences, and become exceptional leaders. For nearly forty years, Holy Family has provided hope and purpose, rooted in faith, through the transforming power of education. Approximately 500+ children, across four programs, are enrolled in year-round programming, each experiencing the chance for a brighter future. The four stellar programs available at Holy Family Ministries: 1) Little Learners Academy - Early learning education, 2) Holy Family School - Education for K-8, 3) Adventures in Learning - afterschool and summer camp, and 4) The Peace Exchange -youth leadership and violence prevention program.
JOB OVERVIEW
A teacher at Holy Family Ministries will inspire young minds, build strong interpersonal relationships with students, engage family, and share a commitment to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential.
Individuals applying for this position must believe in high accountability and collaboration. Be comfortable with both individual as well as group decision-making. Candidates need to be aware there are expectations that exist outside of the regular school day and hours (Parent / Teacher Meetings, available to assist students after, if necessary, and chaperon school trips).
Knowledgeable in children’s developmental milestones with the ability to foster academic and character growth. Teaching 7th grade science and social studies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, prepare, and deliver dynamic lesson plans and instructional materials that engage students in 21st century learning experiences.
- Provide opportunities that challenge students to think critically.
- Create a developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Monitor progress to ensure all students are demonstrating high rates of growth.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse social-emotional, cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Work closely with team members and parents to best meet the needs of students.
- Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Supervises students in activities that take place outside of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
- Have a mindset of using a restorative justice approach with discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Illinois Teaching Certification
- Illinois Professional Educators License
- Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with diverse populations
- Desire to work with (elementary/middle school) scholars and their families in under resourced communities
- Outstanding verbal, written, and technological (computer/internet) skills
- Ability to build relationships and influence others
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Suites and Google Suites
- Committed to the goals of the program and approach
- Evidence of efficacy and willingness to be a team player
- Belief and commitment to Holy Family Ministries mission and values
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Able to work indoors and occasionally outdoors. Role requires sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, seeing, hearing, and the ability to lift a minimum of 10lbs.
