Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery. Your expertise and guidance will make a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with substance abuse.
Duties:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the appropriate treatment plan for clients
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address substance abuse issues
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients in managing immediate challenges
- Implement evidence-based interventions such as motivational interviewing and psychotherapy
- Assist clients in developing coping skills and strategies to prevent relapse
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including medical documentation and data collection
- Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines, including HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on current research, trends, and best practices in substance abuse counseling
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (LCSW, LPC, etc.)
- Experience working with individuals who have substance abuse disorders
- Knowledge of crisis management techniques and intervention strategies
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals struggling with addiction
