The Estimator will be responsible for preparing pricing estimates on new projects and estimating prices on change orders or existing contracts. This position will work closely with our customers to provide them with the pricing they need within their timeframe for underground utility projects. They will get quotes from vendors on material needs for jobs. They will be in close contact with the customer before and after the bid date. Estimator will also need to work closely with co-workers to provide customer with the service that they need.
Summary of Job Functions:
1. Analyze required documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.
2. Participates in projecting and controlling construction costs by collecting and studying information.
4. Does a material takeoff from a set of blueprints and prepares quote for these materials.
3. Determines what factors of production will influence the cost of product.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors and contractors.
5. Manage bids from vendors.
6. Requote material that is out of terms for ordering with vendors as well as changes between quoting and final drawings.
7. Verify that the pricing and quantities are correct before sending quote out to the customer.
8. Works closely with the Dispatch Coordinator to schedule and ship product once it has been awarded and produced.
9. Develop and sustain sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers on all levels of an organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Two years' experience in customer service or Estimator role, preferred, not required,
2. Experience in construction and underground utility industry preferred, not required.
3. Excellent mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
5. Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
6. Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
7. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
8. Documentation management and ability to learn and use project management tools. (Titan Precast Management software)
