Corrections Education Teacher (Social Studies assignment)

Job Assignment: Social Studies 7-12
The CSIU is currently accepting applications for a full-time position in a corrections education residential youth treatment program located in Danville, PA. This position is responsible for the daily instruction in the area of social studies content areas to secondary-grade level 7-12 students in a particular school program on the corrections campus, based on individual needs.
Salary: $51,949 – 69,270 depending on credentials and experience. Position follows a 188 days per year, 11-month August to June school schedule This is an exempt position offering excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance; retirement options including Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and life insurance options.
Education, experience and skills required:
- Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree with a major in education or field specific degree program with an emphasis on education.
- A valid Pennsylvania instructional certification in 8875-Social Studies 7-12.
- A demonstrated ability to work with at-risk populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are necessary to properly maintain open channels of communication with agencies, school districts, parents, members of higher education institutions, etc.
- Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
- Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.
- The ability to work productively with the agency and residential staff are essential.
