The Payroll Administrator acts as a liaison between Human Resources and employees with payroll inquiries to help to identify and provide solutions. Oversees, processes, and conducts first audit of the semi-monthly payroll operations; researches, evaluates and ensures that all payroll issues and discrepancies are resolved in a proper and timely manner; and maintains and updates necessary data in UKG/Workforce Ready. Researches, analyzes, and retrieves data to prepare and maintain complex payroll records, summaries, and reports; reconciles differences within established payroll, benefits, and retirement deductions by using critical analysis skills; interprets, explains, and complies with negotiated contracts, prescribed laws, and rules. The position allows for a hybrid schedule with three days in the office each week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a technical point-of-contact and Subject Matter Expert for payroll processing and assists with ensuring payroll data integrity for salaried and hourly employees.
- Updates and calculates information received from the HR team related to new hires, terminations, salary changes, leaves of absence, and worksite transfers/changes, bonus, severance, and award payments.
- Responsible for garnishment, child support, tax levy, and LOA (FMLA, PFL, STD, and LTD) calculations and entry into UKG.
- Tracks and deducts 401(k) loan payments, garnishments, tax levies and other mandatory employee deductions.
- Coordinates and audits all state setups and tax withholding based on office, residence, and work location.
- Resolves issues and answers payroll-related questions.
- Ensures end-of-year processes are completed accurately and timely, including auditing of Form W2s and other tax documents and delivery.
- Processes multiple employee payrolls throughout the United States according to their federal, state, and local payroll laws.
- Resolves inquiries concerning account status and discrepancies, communicating resolutions to the appropriate parties.
- Creates and maintains all payroll processes and procedures for training purposes.
- Responsible for computing the quarterly 401 (k) match.
- Responsible for computing the annual profit-sharing contributions.
- Participates in annual 401 (k) audit as required.
- Ad hoc reporting, other initiatives and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Certified Payroll Administrator (CPA) a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience of direct payroll experience within a multi-state payroll setting.
- Experience with UKG is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Perform quality work while meeting deadlines.
