This boots-on-the-ground position is responsible for coordinating Maine procurement with the needs of The Shop and the wholesale company. The day-to-day revolves around picking up product from oyster farmers in Maine, and managing logistics to get the product down to the Island Creek Oysters wholesale facility in New Bedford, MA. This role is a part time, hourly position that will provide seasonal employment from April to October. Work days each week will be Monday ,Tuesday, Thursday.Hours can be expected to be at a minimum of 24 hours per week, and will require a start time of 7:30AM.
The Maine Driver position will report to the Procurement North Lead..
ROLE:
- Communication, coordination and providing feedback to Procurement Specialist
- Pick up of Oysters from Harpswell & Damariscotta areas
- Transport of product down to Island Creek wholesale location in MA Tues. & Thurs.
- Understanding of inventory management
- Understanding of protocol to maintaining cold chain
- Maintain tag organization and cooler/grower logs
- Printing and retagging shellfish tags from select harvesters
- Organize and drop of transfers for ICO wholesale at PFEX(Transfer Station), if applicable
- Truck upkeep/cleaning
- Cooler organization to maintain FIFO for shop needs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Driver’s license and squeaky clean driving record
