Summary/Objective
The Assembly Geometry Engineer Technician is responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems. Timely and appropriate adjustments of clamping points at assembly machines. Assembly Geometry Engineer Technician is a key position between Project management, Engineering Management, Assembly Department, Assembly Maintenance, Tooling, Quality Department and customer needs.
Essential Functions

1. Adjusting tooling clamping/net points on all machines.
2. Analyze CMM reports / measurement reports / protocols of components and assembly, evaluate, manufacturing inaccuracies (e.g., geometric deviations)
3. Adjusting clamping points accordingly by selecting suitable shims (intermediate layers), components shimming to get them in the tolerance range (green status).
4. Documentation of all measurements and adjustments including shim logs.
5. Advise and support production and maintenance staff on all geometrical issues related to part quality.
6. Supporting Assembly Department or related departments (tool / die / laser), during the process of planning new Assembly or optimizing existing Assembly machines.
7. Supporting the production during the process of manufacturing of new assembly components.
8. Attending customer meetings/escalations if required.
9. Participation of FMEA
10. Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Other duties may be assigned based on skills and overall company needs.
- Analyze fixtures for optimization.
- Lead with preventative maintenance on all tooling if necessary and assist with sourcing spare parts.
- Lead production changeovers on all machines.
- Provide production support on welding issues related to machine / electrode for operations.
- Teach robot positions for optimization and or quality related issues.
Competencies
1. Experience with the following joining processes:
a. Ability to use CAD to find parts and or measurement data.
b. Experience in CMM / geometrical clamping points on assembly fixtures and tools. (GD&T)
c. Knowledge of components and assemblies
d. Mechanical Engineering technical knowledge (MET)
e. Knowledge of MS office packages
f. Ability to read mechanical drawings and prints.
g. Find spare parts per equipment documentation.
h. Systematic problem solving

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 1st 2nd or 3rd shift depending on position needed on a 3 shift 8-hour schedule. In order to meet our customer’s demands this role may be required to perform work outside of business hours including weekends and or additional coverage.
Travel
Generally, travel is expected for this role only driven by training. Travel can be local or international. Travel is expected to be less than 15%.
Required Education and Experience
a. Training in a 3.5-year technical profession (e.g. industrial mechanic) or comparable training
b. Mechanical engineering knowledge
c. Knowledge of mechanical components / assemblies / pneumatics
d. Fanuc Robot knowledge
e. Knowledge of MS office packages
f. Root cause analysis
