We have over 120 company-owned stores across North America and strong relationships with local contractors. We supply coatings for post painting of exterior buildings and touch-up products that extend the service life of most pre-painted materials.
Cloverdale’s Coil business is growing and we are looking for members to join the expansion of our KelCoatings division. The successful candidate will be managing a process that results in achieving annual sales revenue, profit and expense objectives for our coil coating business.
Working directly with customers and prospective customers, the TSR will provide in-depth product knowledge and technical know-how to effectively and efficiently use products to achieve customer requirements. This role will collect data within the coating process(es) to assist customers in
(a) developing SOP’s
(b) continuous improvement and/or cost reduction projects and
(c) root cause analysis, as required.
The TSR will demonstrate a strong practical knowledge of coil coating chemistries, pretreatment and surface cleaning / preparation, application equipment, application and curing processes, industry test methods, environmental considerations and a general understanding of auxiliary manufacturing processes related to coil production.
The ability to solve complex problems pragmatically in a fast-paced environment is critical for success in this role. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to communicate, present and demonstrate solutions in a clear concise manner.
The TSR will work directly with Cloverdale’s Industrial Technical Group to optimize current technologies and assist in the development and commercialization of new product technologies.
The TSR will be responsible for directly covering accounts in the primary Territories of Michigan, the Midwest and Texas; with travel to other locations throughout the United States as required for technical service / product launches / training / troubleshooting / presentations / customer start-ups. Travel for this role is approximately up to 40% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy, Communication, Sales Development
- Responsible for developing an annual Territory Plan to achieve sales revenue, profit and expense management objectives.
- Personally manage the sales process, including developing annual Account Plans for key customers that include SWOT Analysis, annual budgets / forecasts, proposals, service requirements, pricing strategies and call planning
- Ensure adequate coverage in the territory to effectively grow market share. Actively maintain a close liaison between key accounts and Cloverdale.
- Provide value to customers through superior technical service; troubleshooting, on-site and video product knowledge training, SOP development, develop Application Guidelines and Recommendations, improving efficiencies / cycle times, lower reject rates and optimize coating appearance on the customer’s production line.
- Develop a working knowledge of our current market position and value proposition by keeping abreast of market changes and opportunities within the industry.
- Work with customers and end-users to have Cloverdale products specified.
- Advocate the needs of coil customers through regular communication and technical development requests (“projects”) with respect to product development, testing of, or improvement to, current coil coating product lines.
- Prepare, write and present reports related to the role.
- Other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager – Coil Coatings from time to time.
Suppliers and Associations
- Liaise with industry personnel on the latest application equipment, pre-treatment technologies, surface cleaning, etc to assist in the sales process
- Work within industry associations and attend tradeshows to promote awareness of Cloverdale’s coil coatings
QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma or University Degree
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 3 years industrial coatings experience (sales, application or formulating)
- A tech savvy coating professional who is knowledgeable of coil coating technologies and their end-uses
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate, present and demonstrate products and solutions in a clear concise manner
- Ability to demonstrate trouble-shooting capabilities and a problem-solving mindset, manage multiple customer priorities
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and excellent documentation/reporting skills
- Understanding of pre-treatment and surface cleaning, application and curing equipment
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, primarily within the Territories of Michigan, the Midwest and Texas; with travel to other locations throughout the United States as required
Preferred Requirements (in addition to Minimum Requirements):
- LEAN Manufacturing Yellow Belt (or higher), or Six Sigma
- 3+ years of experience as a Finishing Line Manager or Lead Hand
