Duties:
The Behavioral Health Specialist is part of the ECHO program. The Behavioral Health Specialist will work within the local law enforcement agencies to help alleviate calls for mental health individuals and any other calls deemed necessary: truly a team effort, as no one individual or entity can provide everything to everyone.
Going on every call; especially those in need of mental health services: the following are tracked: disturbance, walk-ins, pickup orders, suicidal ideation/attempt, welfare checks, intoxication, 911, community outreach, aggressive person, etc.
Documenting all calls, conversations, follow up, and referrals.
Dealing with mental health disorders and which techniques work best.
Ensuring de-escalation techniques are being utilized when necessary.
Qualifications:
Five + years’ experience working with mental health clients or Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related field.
Extensive background in mental health disorders.
De-escalation techniques.
Respect for law enforcement, as well as mental illnesses.
Flexibility regarding schedule.
Willing to take directives.
Attend all mandatory trainings and supervisions.
