Job Summary
The Senior Utilities Electronic Technician leads, coordinates, and assists lower-level electronic technicians in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of a wide variety of electronic equipment related to flood control, water pumping stations or related electronic/electrical equipment to ensure efficient operation of the Dallas Water Utility.
Job Description
Essential Functions
1 Leads, trains, and reviews assignments of lower level electronic technicians on troubleshooting techniques, operating, and repairing new equipment and major installation projects to ensure that electronic work is done correctly.
2 Meets with customers to identify nature of equipment problem and/or coordinates and schedules customer service requests for installation, repair, replacement and removing electronic equipment to provide services in a timely manner.
3 Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains electronic equipment to ensure equipment is in working condition.
4 Gathers information, compiles data, and prepares various reports for review by management.
5 Schedules various equipment for preventive maintenance to increase the efficiency of equipment operation and reduce down time; actively participates in emergency situations providing leadership and expertise to address problems and return services to full operational functionality.
6 Orders, obtains, and organizes equipment, supplies, and materials to ensure necessary supplies are available to successfully complete assignments; contacts, communicates, and engages with vendors to obtain documentation, technical data, or other information when it is not available.
7 Programs electronic chips and produces diagrams to change equipment processes for use in process connections and controls.
8 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Thorough knowledge of Water Utility and Wastewater Management facilities.
2 Thorough knowledge of the operation and function of water distribution equipment and systems including SCADA, MAXIMO, Shop Logs and other systems.
3 Knowledge of testing, diagnosing and repairing of electronic and electrical instruments, pumps, motors, actuators and many more electrical components.
4 Thorough knowledge of electronic theory and practice involved in the installation, testing, diagnosis, and repair of complex electronic circuitry.
5 Ability to train, coordinate, and review the work of others.
6 Ability to identify and differentiate among color coded electronic components.
7 Ability to use a variety of standard electronic and electrical testing instruments and tools.
8 Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams and schematic drawings related to electronic equipment.
9 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing
10 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
11 Knowledge of PID controllers.
12 Troubleshooting skills of Analog and Digital loops.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience in the installation, testing, diagnosis and repair of electronic, electrical controls, computer hardware or related electrical equipment.

Component level repairs.
Subject to twenty-four/seven (24/7) emergency call-out.
Some positions require experience working with PLC programs (e.g., Unity Pro, Concept)
PREFERENCES:
Advanced computer skills.
Some positions require PLC hardware troubleshooting skills.
Ability to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
Knowledge of Analytical and Water Quality Instrumentation. (Is a plus)

Salary Range
$53,265.32 - $63,986.47
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
