Overview: We are seeking an experienced paralegal with a background in medical malpractice to join our team. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional writing capabilities and be responsible for supporting all aspects of medical malpractice cases.
Responsibilities:
- Draft notices of intent, complaints, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Serve pleadings and other legal documents to parties involved in the case.
- Prepare initial disclosures and ensure timely filing with the court.
- Draft witness and exhibit lists for trials and hearings.
- Prepare discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests to produce and requests for admission.
- Respond to discovery requests, including drafting responses, organizing documents, and coordinating with attorneys and clients.
- Prepare motions to compel discovery and depositions
- Prepare motions to approve settlements and distribution of proceeds
- Manage and maintain effective client communication, including gathering necessary information and documents, updating clients on case progress, and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Conduct legal and medical research as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files and databases.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and other tasks as necessary.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm setting.
- Proficiency in legal research and writing.
- Strong knowledge of legal procedures and terminology.
- Experience drafting legal documents, including notices of intent, complaints, discovery requests and responses, summaries, motions, and briefs.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
