Contract Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Contracting Specialist to join our team and play a critical role in managing the entire government contracting lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of government contract formation, administration, and negotiations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (DOE, Procurement, Financial Assistance policies).
- Develop high-quality contract documents, including RFPs, Statements of Work (SOWs), and award packages, with exceptional attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Partner with government agencies and contractors/vendors to navigate challenges, formulate successful contracting strategies, and ensure project success.
- Independently manage workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations.
- Work effectively as part of a team or independently to set goals and achieve desired outcomes.
- Contribute to policy preparation and management, participate in contract document evaluations and assessments, and implement quality assurance measures throughout the contracting process.
- Analyze costs and pricing to ensure fair and reasonable agreements (DOE experience preferred).
- Utilize Microsoft Office 365 proficiently, with expert knowledge of Word and Excel being highly desirable.
- Maintain strong clerical, administrative, and organizational skills, ensuring efficient workflow and accurate documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in all aspects of government contract formation, administration, and negotiation (federal or commercial).
- Experience in crafting policy documents, conducting contract document evaluations and assessments, and implementing quality assurance practices.
- Strong understanding of DOE regulations, procurement, financial assistance policies, and program management practices.
- Working knowledge of DOE Hanford processes, procedures, mission, activities, and priorities.
- Experience interfacing with senior management and stakeholders.
- Experience performing cost/price analysis (within DOE preferred).
- Experience with processing requisitions, purchase orders, and reconciling government or corporate purchase card/credit card statements (a plus).
- Experience with Hanford's technology management tools (a plus).
- Experience writing Pre-Negotiation Plans/Price Negotiation Memorandums (within DOE preferred).
