Avenue Construction is seeking a superintendent with at least 5-7 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. We are hiring for the Superintendent role for upcoming commercial/ multi-family projects. The Superintendent directly supervises field labor (including laborers/subcontractors) for assigned commercial/office/multifamily construction project(s) in Middle Tennessee. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills. The superintendent is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. The superintendent performs all duties with guidance from the Project Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Direct day-to-day onsite supervision of field labor
- Accomplishes project assignments by selecting, orienting, training and scheduling the individual vendors, tradesmen, and subcontractors to complete the work as scheduled according to plans and specs, and within the budget and quality expectations required
- Responsible for the administration of the Project Safety Program and for the safe execution of all activities on assigned jobsite
- Coordinate and provide for inspections from governing authorities. Comply with standards and practices so as to promote safe and clean work environments, proactively inspect and improve practices to eliminate safety risks and injuries. Inspect work to achieve compliance with project specifications, and enforce standards.
- Maintain good relationships with clients, including owner reps, architects and civil engineers
- Manage schedules and ensure all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates
- Accomplishes construction project results by understanding the project scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders
- Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings
- Monitor costs, including labor time and material
- Manage mid-size commercial/office/multifamily projects

- Valid, state-issued driver's license
