Manage all aspects of the service shop operations including supervising shop hourly and salaried personnel, maintaining timely delivery of high-quality end products, building customer relationships, ensuring a steady profit margin, cost control, development and maintenance of a training program, providing a safe work environment and continuous customer satisfaction.
Supervise and coordinate all shop activities necessary to insure fast, thorough and accurate completion of repairs.
Maintain harmonious employee relations within the group and properly discipline to keep morale at a high level.
Responsible for complying with company policy, plant rules, state and federal laws as they apply to the operation of the repair facility.
Initiate recommendations and cost improvements for equipment, repair methods and shop layout to fulfill the demands of the Service Shop in line with growth potential.
Maintain machinery and equipment within the shop and strictly adhere to safe practices and standards to prevent breakdowns and lost time.
Collaborate with engineering, technical services, parts department, customer service, project managers, and sales to obtain necessary information and guidance for proper completion of all repair work.
Responsible for shop safety rules and good housekeeping.
Assist in forecasting capital equipment and manpower requirements.
Advise and determine most efficient methods to repair equipment.
Maintain 24 hours a day service by providing personal attention to or having foreman on call and adjusting shift coverage as necessary to handle critical emergency jobs.
Schedule necessary weekly meetings with customer service and production control personnel to establish promised completion dates and make certain in-process jobs are on schedule.
Responsible for quality of repair work.
Train employees in techniques of repair work on all products to improve personnel/resource flexibility.
Train employees for high degree of efficiency in the execution of work assigned and help develop new techniques for repair work.
Plan repair work so that it is efficiently executed by specifically outlining action steps and follow-up as required.
Recommend and set up necessary control repair reports to provide proper follow-up and job details to minimize delays in meeting promised completion dates.
Establish standards for common repair operations and repair processing instructions for repair facility personnel.
Continually review, update and initiate department instructions, job descriptions and standard practice procedures which affect the facility.
Provide guidance and direction, delegating duties and responsibilities to all direct reports.
Survey and analyze the working efficiency of department personnel and utilize their time for best possible performance, especially during peak levels of order activity.
Make certain that all requests for information and orders are promptly answered or acknowledged if information is not available.
Establish necessary controls to ensure maximum performance of each department and promptly detect shortfalls and make appropriate corrections to support team members’ activities.
Establish and implement techniques and systems to take advantage of latest data processing equipment and methods.
Manage the HSE incident investigation process to identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for incident prevention.
Work with Service Center Manager and HSE lead to ensure all safety measures are in place to mitigate/eliminate harm to our environment and employees.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Service Center Manager.
