Life Enrichment Assistant – Long-term Care
40 hours - Tuesday through Saturday. 9:30AM – 6:00PM.

The Life Enrichment department brings excitement and captivation to the residents of The Cedars through meaningful engagement; reconnecting to past hobbies and interests, as well as introducing new leisure pursuits. We adapt activities to facilitate active participation, thereby maintaining strengths and staving off decline as long as possible. The Life Enrichment Assistant assists the Life Enrichment Manager to develop, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recreational programs for our long-term care residents in the Hoffman Center. These activities include all aspects of wellness such as exercise classes, intellectual programs, games, arts and crafts, relaxation and spiritual programs, both social and seasonal parties, and coordinating with volunteers. The Life Enrichment Team at The Cedars assists residents to develop interpersonal relationships to socialize effectively and develop the confidence to participate in group activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with older adults in a long-term care setting and with individuals with dementia. When everyday can feel new, it is our role to assist residents to maintain a sense of purpose throughout their life span.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with activities such as exercise, intellectual programs, games, arts and crafts, relaxation and spiritual programs and social events to assist residents to develop interpersonal relationships to socialize effectively and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities.
- Seeks opportunities to meet residents’ psycho-social needs through both care planned and spontaneous actions.
- Seeks opportunities to support the social needs of all members of the household through support, friendship and kindness.
- Seeks opportunities to share personal interests and talents with members of the household through both planned and spontaneous activities.
- Help with visits, and assist the staff with serving dinner
- Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
- Currently enrolled in TR degree program or state-approved course.
- One year working with geriatric population, a plus.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
