Role Summary:
The Senior Director, ADAS role is responsible for bootstrapping and leading a team to integrate the Cariad’s in-house driving, parking assist and active safety stacks with hardware and software developed as part of CARIAD’s next generation Software defined Vehicle Operating System (SDV-OS).
The ideal candidate is an experienced and hands-on engineering leader who has experience developing and integrating ADAS stacks from concept to launch, can think holistically and work across team boundaries to integrate the various subsystems into a cohesive high-quality product. Experience bootstrapping teams and developing processes that enable the transition from start-up phase to production is required. The role is part of CARIAD’s senior technical team and involves interfacing with multiple stakeholders across the VW Group.
Role Responsibilities:

Establish software development processes, best practices, and coding standards.

Work with product management and stakeholders to define and prioritize software requirements, features, and roadmaps.

Manage external partnerships and collaborations.
-
Work closely with both internal autonomy teams and external customers on managing and driving major software releases to completion.

Lead the debugging and prioritization of functional issues on the data-collection platforms.

Bootstrap and mentor a team of domain experts and software engineers focused on perception algorithms, embedded integration, and application development for autonomous driving.

Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the development of perception algorithms, including computer vision, radar processing, and sensor fusion.

Partner closely with cross-functional teams, to ensure seamless integration of perception algorithms into the overall driving stack.

Guide the team in the integration of algorithms and applications into embedded systems, ensuring real-time performance, efficiency, and compliance with automotive standards.

Required Specialized Skills:

Experience in developing complex software products using agile methods & processes across large, distributed organizations.

Experience building a tech focused software engineering team to develop infotainment solutions for automotive OEMs

Deep understanding of ADAS technologies and system architecture.

Experience in perception algorithms, computer vision, and sensor fusion for autonomous systems

Knowledge of machine learning techniques and deep learning frameworks is highly desirable

Familiarity with automotive standards, safety protocols, and functional safety practices

Responsible for software release process, system testing, offboard hardware / software integration, KPI analysis and project management

Detailed knowledge of autonomy development, validation, and integration process

Demonstrated experience in establishing and managing core technology roadmaps

Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams to quickly solve complex issues

Compensation
Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training. In the city of Mountain View, California, the salary range for this position is $237,100-320,900.
