Position Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for computing, classifying, recording, and processing data to keep the business’ financial records complete. This role is essential in maintaining the financial health of the organization by ensuring consistency and accuracy of our books.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate classification and record of financial transactions in our current accounting system, QuickBooks online
- Validate and process vendor invoices (Accounts payable)
- Validate and send invoices to customers, collecting outstanding payments (Accounts receivable)
- Reconcile entries into the accounting system to verify accuracy
- Work closely with the company’s CPA to ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Develop and refine related procedures to increase departmental accuracy and efficiency
Payroll
- Collect and maintain accurate information relating to payroll, including wages, hours, benefit deductions, taxes, etc.
- Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner
- Identify and resolve any payroll-related issues
- Develop and refine related procedures to increase departmental accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of a high school degree or GED
- Proven experience working in a similar role, or an adequate combination of education and work experience to successfully satisfy job requirements
- Strong understanding of accounting best practices
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and business information
- Strong data entry skills and high attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills — experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft products such as Excel strongly preferred
- Skilled in managing time and meeting deadlines
