A Brief Overview
This position is located in Emeryville, CA with potential to be hybrid. This position supports a virtual clinical team and does not involve in person patient care.
This Medical Assistant II position functions as a member of the clinic patient care team and performs clinical tasks to support the delivery of care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients to obtain services in a timely manner and assuring efficient utilization of resources in the coordination of patient care.
In collaboration with the Lead Clinician, this position supports video visits, in-basket management, patient follow-up and scheduling appointments for 3 primary care providers in a remote environment. Primary care is performed exclusively through telecommunication platforms to expand primary care access in the East Bay.
What you will do
Job Scope:
- Patient portal and inbox message management.
- Medical records and/or chart preparation.
- Patient communications.
- Assists with referral inquiries.
- Disability paperwork management.
- Rx Refill & processing prior Authorization.
- Participates in team huddles – Assist coordinating.
- Trainer/new employee orientation.
- Participates in maintenance of department A3.
- Assists providers with telemedicine services.
- Scribing for providers.
- Coordinates appointments and care.
- Patient outreach to address gaps in care & follow-up.
- Facilitates communication between patient & provider
Knowledge:
- Same as Level I and, in addition:
- Requires the ability to independently apply knowledge to perform work, as appropriate.
- Prioritizes own tasks
- Ability to independently check in-basket, refills, patient messages.
- Electronic Medical Record System Super User.
Level of Supervision:
- Continues to develop knowledge and skills.
- Work is reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
- Assignments are selected to provide increased complexity and variety within the specialty area.
All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities (1, 2):
- Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training required.
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years of related experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Same as Level I and, in addition:
- Professional verbal and written communication skills stated above in CI Care.
- Proficient Computer skills including but not limited to; keyboarding, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records.
- Applicable scheduling System.
- Electronic Medical Record System and databases applicable to clinics.
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills required for varying procedures and managing interruptions.
- Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative and collaborative manner.
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support required.

Pay: $27.47 - $35.02 per hour
