Role and Responsibilities
This role will be a senior level leadership position overseeing all aspects of the Operations in an AS9100 machining facility. This role is the process owner, KPI owner, and oversees all department managers in the Operations team. This role will be a member of the leadership team of the site collaborating directly with executive leadership and integral in shaping, creating, and executing the strategic initiatives of the business.
· Daily interface with engineering personnel to direct the planning and execution of new setups/part industrializations
· Identify production efficiency gaps and work across departments to develop solutions
· Maintain/optimize shift framework to keep operations running efficiently and fully manned
· Daily interface/risk assessment with Planning team to ensure jobs are scheduled for the correct machine tool/resource groups
· Manage Operations management team within approved company guidelines and clear objective goals and expectations
· Develop vision and set direction for manufacturing and engineering teams using innovative tools to improve quality and manufacturability of products and processes
· Aid in developing, conveying and implementing any new company procedures or changes to existing procedures for manufacturing or operations
· Inform, review, develop manufacturing plans and the processes that create them
· Preparing and presenting business cases to Executive Team for budget and expenditures related to capital equipment, tooling, personnel or training needs related to manufacturing
· Advise sales team on how new parts would fit current capacities and competencies of Colinear and roughly outline industrialization plans for prospective new programs
· Responsible to drive compliance to job costing procedures and initiatives (e.g. logging in to jobs etc)
· Communicate with planning regarding capacity constraints, priorities, bottlenecks
· Escalate quality issues to sales, supply chain or operations for disposition or further direction
· Host site visits as needed with supplier sales/applications staff to find solutions to manufacturing challenges
· Attend seminars, trainings or escorted customer visits as needed to learn new/existing industry best practices
· Accountability to all business KPIs including reporting and measuring these objectives as required
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- A minimum of 5-year experience managing Engineering personnel and scheduling departmental workload
- A minimum of 5-year experience as a lead machinist/setup engineer
- Expert-level proficiency with reading and interpreting blueprints and model-based definitions
- Extensive experience with conversational CNC programming
- A comfortable working knowledge of CAM software, AutoCAD and Solidworks
- A comfortable working knowledge of CMMs, comparators and other inspection gauges/instrumentation
- Ability to identify non-conformities and develop rework paths.
- Develop training materials and performance plans for subordinates
