Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Rebuild, replace, or repair vehicle parts such as brakes, transmission lines, electrical assemblies, and accessories.
- Perform welding and minor body work to keep vehicles operating.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventive care.
- Safely Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Driving:
- Operate and move farm vehicles such as: tractors, mowers and trailers.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of Agricultural & Diesel automotive mechanics and maintenance.
- Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts
Equipment Used:
- Farm vehicles, small hand tools, drills drill press, grinder, air-powered tools, torch, jack, and lift equipment.
Requirements:
- CDL A with previous flatbed experience is preferred
- At least two years of equipment repair experience in agricultural environment
- Experience working with purchase orders
- Tools
- Some Spanish skills, preferred
Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time. The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, and with vehicles and machinery with moving parts. Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel. High paced environment balancing multiple needs and deadlines and constant interruptions with new repairs of diagnostics to perform.
