A Nonprofit Organization located in NYC is seeking a Budget Analyst. The Budget Analyst will effectively manage financial activities of the center to ensure all financial activities fall within funder and agency guidelines. Head monthly meetings with Senior Leadership ensuring maximization of cash flow and accuracy of financial statements. They will also provide ongoing support for all budget and forecasting related functions as well as billing and financial systems, incorporate the maintenance and development of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements; this includes budgeting, reforecasting and management of grants to assure that all activities fall within funder and agency guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statements, variance reports, and forecasting processes ensuring the financial plan is consistent with the organizations strategic business goals and objectives
- Analyze monthly financial statements of multiple programs and variance reports (i.e. budget vs. actual report) to advise program directors the best course of action
- Lead complex financial analysis to develop budgets including RFPs
- Reconcile and perform grant closeout functions required by contracts administration and sponsors. Perform budget modification as needed
- Monitor program expenses and revenue billings against approved budget and develop budget modification if necessary
- Ensure all requirements by contracts administration and funders are met during grant closeout process, including submitting quarter, semi-annual, or annual reports
- Evaluate and determine the feasibility of RFP’s as well as monitor contract performance to the budget
- Collaborate with program staff to forecast budgets
- Compile and analyze accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement programs
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for budget analysis
- Ensure adhearance to guidelines and policies as well as monitor the financial and programmatic status of assigned accounts
- Prepare schedules and reconciliations as required for the annual audit
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting is a must
- Minimum of 3 years Nnprofit experience
- 2+ years grant accounting experience
- Proven, leader with the ability to set team goals and prioritize daily operations and projects
- High proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel
- Ability to function independently, attend to detail, work under pressure, and complete tasks on time
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP, Non Profit and Grant Accounting Experience
- Advanced data analysis skills and high proficiency with MS Excel
Preferred Skills:
- DYCD grant experience
- CPA a plus
- Intacct
Compensation: $85,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
