Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS) is seeking a behavioral health clinician to join our team, a new perinatal behavioral health program focused on increasing culturally-congruent practices and interventions for pregnant Black/African American San Francisco residents. This position will work in collaboration with UCSF EMBRACE: Perinatal Care for Black Families, SFDPH’s The Abundant Birth Project and SFDPH Black Infant Health Program – a San Francisco Black Birthing collective focused on reducing inequitable care and Black maternal and infant birthing disparities.

Status: Full-time, Exempt (Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/week)
Salary: Base rates: $72,800 - $87,360 (licensed eligible) or $87,360 - $104,312 (licensed)

The Mental Health Counselor role will include:
· Supporting the manager in implementation of new outreach and engagement practices for pregnant/expecting Black/African American clients, including those currently underserved by the County mental health plan.
· Implementation of culturally adaptive perinatal interventions and practices that increase client satisfaction, efficacy, and retention.
· Implementation of perinatal cultural practices that emphasize elements of the Sankofa framework.
Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to:
· Provides direct services including behavioral health assessment, counseling, and case management to a caseload of pregnant/expecting Black/African American individuals and families within an integrated model of maternal mental health and medical care
· Identifies and treats perinatal anxiety and mood disorders
· Provides crisis intervention services, as needed
· Works from a framework of racial equity, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing when working with clients with co-occurring disorders
· Facilitates groups focused on maternal mental health and wellness during pregnancy and postpartum, providing psychoeducation and anticipatory guidance in service of the parent-infant attachment
· Performs outreach visits to clients’ homes or hotels when necessary
· Works collaboratively with community partners to provide referrals and linkages to relevant resources to enhance client functioning and quality of life
· Effectively performs all clinical case documentation within RAMS and EMBRACE standards
· Performs other related duties as assigned/required
Minimum Required Qualifications:
· MS/MA in Psychology, MFT, Clinical or Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or related field, from an accredited university
· Current BBS or Board of Psychology licensure or registration
· Three years of direct service experience providing behavioral counseling to underserved/unserved adults, children, and families in the Black/African American community
· Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interface professionally with a diverse, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary staff at all levels
· Ability to work effectively and function independently
Other Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of the mental health, social, and cultural strengths and needs of Black/African Americans in San Francisco
· Previous experience serving Black/African American birthing people/expecting parents during the perinatal period
· Knowledge of maternal and infant mental health and early development
· Knowledge of and experience implementing interventions for parents, infants and young children, and families exposed to emotional and physical trauma
· Group facilitation skills
· Ability to form therapeutic relationships with a racially and culturally diverse population
· Ability to practice with cultural humility, from a lens of racial consciousness and social justice
