Newport Mesa Animal Hospital is a family-owned and operated veterinary hospital established in 1983. We're a very well established 3 doctor practice with 16 support staff members. We are a general practice that offers everything from puppy and kitten wellness exams to advanced orthopedic surgery. We have the latest equipment and technology in our practice and take a laid-back, honest approach to veterinary medicine.

Our ideal candidate loves animals, possesses strong customer service skills and is reliable. Veterinary technicians at Newport Mesa Animal Hospital are generally responsible for gathering patient histories, obtaining vitals, rooming clients, entering and filling charges / prescriptions, performing technician clinical treatments, surgical preparation / assisting, dentistry, and much more!
Job Details:
- Schedule - TBD (5 days / week)
- $26 - $29 / hour (if non-RVT licensed, starting pay may be lower)
- RVT Renewal Licensing Dues Paid For
- RVT Continuing Education Allowance / Enrollment in VetGirl platform
- 1 year of veterinary technician experience is REQUIRED

- Work Schedule - 40 hours a week (8 hours / day - 5 days / week)

Primary duties of the veterinary assistant include:
- Gathering medical patient histories from clients
- Obtaining vitals / TPR from patients
- Performing medical treatments under supervision of DVM
- SQ, IM, IV injections
- Sedation / Intubation
- Surgical assisting / monitoring
- Dental cleaning / extractions (if RVT)
- Collecting and running lab samples (both in-house and reference lab)
- Digital Radiology
- Electronic medical record documentation
- Vaccination administration
- Filling pharmacy medications
- Utilizing Cornerstone veterinary software
- Answering phone calls & common client questions
- Communicating between clients / doctors / technicians
- Be willing to learn and adapt to hospital protocols
- Ability to sit, squat, bend, stand for entire shift
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or restrain 50 pounds
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
