As a Medical Assistant for The Pain Center you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Rooming patients and document basic medical history
- Medication reconciliation
- Ensuring the patient medical record has all applicable reports/results available for provider review during appointments
- Stock and sanitize patient examination rooms
- Assist with the flow of the office and ensuring the providers are able to see patients in a timely manner
- Obtaining Board of Pharmacy reports for providers prior to appointment
- Medication prior authorizations
- Sending outgoing referrals to other specialist offices and physical therapy offices
- Assist with filing paper documents into patient electronic medical record
- Cross train on front office duties to assist with covering lunch breaks and coworkers out on vacation
The ideal candidate would have the drive and motivation to want to learn more than the basic responsibilities (for opportunity to get paid more). Additional responsibilities could include but are not limited to:
- Imaging authorizations
- Procedure authorizations
- Surgical authorizations
- Medical billing and coding
- Processing incoming new patient referrals
- Assisting at the doctor's ambulatory surgical center
- Quality Improvement studies
Skills
- Punctuality and reliability are of utmost importance in this position
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary (preferred)
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work (required)
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
- Degree in medical assistance (PREFERRED)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
