Founded in 1970 as South Philadelphia Health Action and subsequently incorporated as Greater Philadelphia Health Action, GPHA is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a commitment to provide compassionate and affordable medical, dental and behavioral healthcare services regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.
We are presently seeking Collections Specialists to work in our Billing Department at GPHA’s Executive Offices.
The Medical Billing Collection Specialist responsibilities include but are no limited to collecting, recording and tabulating monies owed to the corporation; posting electronic and manual remittances; preparing reports after reconciling payment posting batches. Must have ability to communicate with HMO, insurance carriers, and staff in a professional manner; and, ability to calculate, verify and update patient accounts appropriately.
Minimum requirements: Two to four years of college education with a minimum of one year of experience in medical claims -or- Minimum of four years’ experience in medical claims or Managed Care Organizations (MCO) claims processing. Minimum of one year experience in collection activity. Good computer and analytical skills. Must stay abreast of latest billing procedures by taking continuing education classes and through contact with MCOs and commercial carriers. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. Must be a self-starter.
