Overview:
As an HVAC Journeyman specializing in installing mini splits, your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient and accurate installation of mini split heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. You will work in both residential and commercial settings, collaborating with a team to complete installations safely and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation Planning:
- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work.
- Assess site conditions and ensure proper placement of mini split units for optimal performance.
- Coordinate with project managers and clients to schedule installations and address any concerns or modifications.
- Equipment Handling and Preparation:
- Gather necessary tools, equipment, and materials for each installation.
- Inspect mini split units and associated components to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Safely transport equipment to the installation site and prepare it for installation.
- Installation Execution:
- Install indoor and outdoor units, refrigerant lines, control wiring, and other components according to manufacturer guidelines and project requirements.
- Securely mount units to walls or ceilings, ensuring stability and proper alignment.
- Connect refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, and drainage systems with precision to ensure system functionality and efficiency.
- Test systems for proper operation and troubleshoot any issues that arise during installation.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Follow local building codes, regulations, and industry standards throughout the installation process.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and implement safety measures to protect yourself and others on the job site.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of installed equipment, materials used, and work performed.
- Complete installation reports, including any deviations from the original plan or unexpected challenges encountered.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.
Qualifications:
- Valid HVAC Journeyman license or certification.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including refrigeration principles and electrical wiring.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated on industry advancements and best practices.
