Western Native Voice (WNV) is a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, formed in July 2022. Staff Role Within the Organization
The Board hires the Executive Director and oversees the organization, including approving budgets and annual operation plans. The executive director also directs the staff and assigns the tasks necessary to carry out organizational goals, programs, and work plans.
Job Summary
We seek a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for advocating on behalf of our organization, influencing public policy, and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of the political landscape, excellent communication skills, and a strategic mindset.
Responsibilities:
- State and Local Government Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, legislators, and regulatory bodies.
- Represent the organization's interests in meetings, hearings, and other relevant forums.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory activities at local and state levels.
- Policy Analysis:
- Research and analyze proposed legislation, regulations, and policy issues affecting the organization.
- Evaluate the potential impact of legislative changes on the organization and its stakeholders.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on policy analysis.
- Advocacy Strategy:
- Develop and implement effective advocacy strategies to promote the organization's goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align policy positions with organizational objectives.
- Draft persuasive communication materials, including position papers, talking points, and briefing documents.
- Coalition Building:
- Identify and engage with like-minded organizations, industry groups, and stakeholders to form coalitions.
- Work collaboratively with external partners to amplify advocacy efforts and achieve common policy objectives.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with lobbying laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate records of lobbying activities, expenditures, and relevant documentation.
- Public Outreach:
- Develop and execute public relations strategies to garner support for the organization's policy positions.
- Effectively communicate complex policy issues to the public through media channels and public appearances.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in lobbying, government relations, or policy analysis.
- Strong understanding of legislative processes and government affairs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with lobbying regulations.
Salary and Benefits:
$56,000- $58,800 DOE
