The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of new electronic products during RFQ proposals and culminating with supporting full production release. This includes customer and industry specification reviews, following program release timelines, support and conduct design reviews, create simple mechanical designs, create assembly documentation packages, preproduction build support and transfers to production.
The Senior EE will work on system-level engineering and electrical problem analysis for automotive systems; create validation plans; electrical/system issue analysis; understanding electrical schematic and block diagram of the system; supporting customer issues; and provide PCB Layout direction on assigned projects and during design reviews for successful EMI/EMC testing of all projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop designs for electrical subsystems
- Design wireless charging products
- Confer with other Engineers to prepare and document design modifications as required
- Use computer assisted engineering, design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
- Prepare schematics, PCB layouts, product and component related specifications, bills of materials as needed following the design documentation process
- Responsible for evaluating component requirements appropriate to product success with cost targets in mind
- Confirm availability of samples and facilitate acquisition of new components for builds
- Plan, develop, and participate in experimentation and testing related to product development
- Generate validation plans, analyze test data and create reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
- Responsible for determining root cause of product nonconformance utilizing appropriate test equipment
- Develop, participate in, and analyze research circuits to determine feasibility of proposed product specifications
- Prepare designs with prior knowledge of factory constraints to reduce iterations due to feedback from Design For Manufacturability and Test strategies
- Participate in development of design process procedure and plan development of experimental test programs
- Lead and participate in Change Management control of documentation releases
- Participate in the development of the Electrical Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Provide Technical support at customer locations
- Maintain product level budget requirements related to changes during development
- Interprets and complies with Company policies, procedures, and regulations
- May perform market research and product planning duties
- May be involved in industry standards tracking, i.e. Wireless Power Consortium, Connected Car Consortium
- May lead or propose initiative for improvement of the EE department
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years of EE experience in circuit board design
- Minimum of 2 years of Wireless Charging experience
- Ability to create and interpret schematic and wiring drawings
- Ability to conduct failure analysis with standard laboratory equipment on electronic and vehicle level assemblies
- Able to determine and convey, in written reports, findings of Failure Analysis results
- System integration knowledge
- PCB layout with EMC/EMI experience a plus
- Schematic and PCB Library experience a plus
- Experience achieving ASPICE level 1 a plus
- Experience with Altium Designer a plus
