Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Job Summary:
This is a medical provider position providing direct patient care to adults with substance use disorders in a behavioral health treatment program. This role includes general medical care of clients at the detoxification, residential, PHP and IOP levels of care, including history and physicals on admitting clients, medication management, and care coordination. The APP will work closely with patients, the medical director and director of nursing, and the clinical team. This position may include management of mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms and prescription of controlled substances, including buprenorphine. This position requires an unencumbered Illinois license and DEA/controlled substance license and the ability to prescribe medications, including CS II-V and buprenorphine management as needed.
This is an on-site, part time (16-20 hours per week) position with flexible hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for assessing clients medical needs and providing accurate information into the EMR system and to the medical director, with history and physicals completed within 72 hours of program admission.
· Demonstrate the competencies required for this position, including practice of program policies and procedures for implementing these duties specifically related to addiction withdrawal symptoms and ASAM protocols.
· Demonstrate standards for security, ethics, confidentiality, rules of conduct and professionalism for Accreditation, HIPAA, and federal/state regulatory compliance.
· Ability to collaborate cross functionally within the organization to promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Illinois Recovery Center
· Completion of required documentation related to client care within acceptable timeframes and industry standards to include routine notes being completed within (48) hours of performed services
· The ability to document pertinent medical information correlative to a client’s treatment placement and conforming to Utilization Review Standards
Qualifications
· Must hold an unencumbered, valid and current nurse practitioner or physician assistant license in the state of Illinois.
-Must hold an unrestricted DEA and IL CS license.
-Basic life support training current within the last 2 years.
· Must be fluent in verbal and written English and be able to navigate EMR and G Suite applications.
· Must be able to physically assist clients and lift 50 lbs. and support a client weighing as much as 250lbs.
· Preferably 1-2 years’ experience in a substance use and/or related co-occurring disorder treatment setting.
-Preferably experience prescribing withdrawal management medications and buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.
