Job Description: Executive Director - Yuma County Chamber of Commerce
Position Summary: The Executive Director of the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to promote the interests of the business community in Yuma County. Additionally, the Executive Director will be expected to grow the membership of the chamber while increasing membership value for current members. This role involves working closely with the Board of Directors, local businesses, government officials, and community organizations to foster economic growth, advocate for business-friendly policies, and enhance the overall business climate in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Develop and implement the Chamber’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Provide dynamic leadership to the Chamber’s staff, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.
- Ensure the Chamber’s activities and programs align with its mission, vision, and goals.
- Responsible for managing Chamber staff, including hiring, firing, performance reviews, salary management and benefit management.
- Advocacy and Public Policy:
- Represent the interests of the Chamber and its members at local, state, and federal levels.
- Advocate for business-friendly policies and regulations that support economic development in Yuma County.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Membership Development:
- Develop and execute strategies to attract and retain Chamber members.
- Enhance member engagement through value-added programs, services, and networking opportunities.
- Address member concerns and ensure their needs are met effectively.
- Economic Development:
- Promote Yuma County as a desirable location for businesses to start, expand, and thrive.
- Collaborate with economic development organizations to attract new businesses and support existing ones.
- Foster partnerships that drive innovation, workforce development, and business growth.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee the Chamber’s financial operations, including budgeting, fundraising, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the financial sustainability of the Chamber through diversified revenue streams and prudent fiscal management.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Board of Directors.
- Communications and Public Relations:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber, articulating its mission and value to various audiences.
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies, including media relations, social media, and marketing campaigns.
- Organize and participate in public events, forums, and meetings to promote the Chamber’s activities and initiatives.
- Program and Event Management:
- Plan, execute, and evaluate a variety of programs, events, and initiatives that benefit Chamber members and the community.
- Ensure high-quality delivery of programs and events that enhance the Chamber’s visibility and impact.
- Develop partnerships and sponsorships to support Chamber activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, communications, marketing, or related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a Chamber of Commerce, economic development organization, or similar business association preferred.
- Proven history of successful advocacy and public policy engagement.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and financial operations.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and people skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
- Familiarity with the Yuma County business community and regional economic landscape is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible business schedule.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
