TITLE: Radiation Therapist
BASIC FUNCTION:
Position is responsible for simulating treatment set-ups, applying radiation therapy treatments, assisting with patient care management and proper charge capture applications. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology.
2. TMB certified or temp TMB, up to 6 months.
3. Certified Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiation Therapy Technologists, OR temporary certification for recent graduates, up to 60 days post-graduation.
4. Completion or eligible for the ARRT Registry examination in Radiation Therapy Technology.
5. Employee must bee in good standing with all required licensure.
6. Demonstrates Behaviors and Operating Principles in all internal and external customer interactions. Performs duties with accountability, competency, innovation, collaboration, compassion and respect to create the best possible outcomes with exceptional customer experiences.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Simulates treatment set-ups according to physician instruction.
2. Accurately delivers and documents the prescribed course of radiation therapy.
3. Warms up treatment machines/simulator and checks all safety and operational procedures; reports any erratic operation to the physicist.
4. Verifies dose measurements through checkmate beam QA device; reports any discrepancies to physicist and lead XRT.
5. Apply proper QA of IGRT phantom to insure correct alignment between phantom laser and machine.
6. Apply proper QA of CT simulator, lasers and water phantom positioning to ensure proper alignment and image quality.
7. Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
8. Applies proper and accurate charge capture.
9. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
10. Promotes professionalism, courtesy and respect to all patients, staff and associates of the Company.
