Responsibilities:
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including dental cleanings, scaling, and root planing
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral health care instructions
- Conduct patient assessments, including medical history review and oral cancer screenings
- Take and develop dental x-rays as needed
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation when necessary
- Assist the dentist during procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans
- Follow strict infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures
- Provide dental care to pediatric patients, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience
Qualifications:
- Valid state dental hygiene license
- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program
- Strong knowledge of dental assisting systems, including CAD/CAM technology and digital imaging software (Epic, Dentrix)
- Proficient in medical coding for dental procedures
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate patients on oral health care practices
- Knowledge of dental anatomy and oral pathology
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other dental professionals
