Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Propeller Engineer I to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This person will design and develop propellers for Yamaha Engines. This person will work closely with YMC expat to learn propeller technology and YMC processes and procedures for propeller development.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the development of mechanical propeller projects
- Learn the YMC processes and procedures associated with propeller design and documentation
- Develop test plans and test methods for the evaluation of Yamaha and competitor propellers.
- Develop and maintain component, product, and process specifications for new propeller products
- Sustaining engineering for existing product lines
- Assist with the process developments that will the reduction in time needed to design and qualify propellers.
- Support YMSC group with FEA analysis
- Support BPS group with development of Engineering Administration.
Decision Making Responsibility:
- Responsible for design decisions to achieve specification targets
- Responsible for project scopes, budgets, schedules for assigned projects.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering or Navel Architecture
- 0-3 yrs. of design and analysis of mechanical components and structures
- Coursework and/or project work related to FEA analysis
- Familiarity with Ansys or Siemens Femap/NASTRAN software
- Highly skilled with SolidWorks, NX, or another 3D CAD tool
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Desirable qualifications:
- Propeller design & analysis
- Familiarity with lost-wax casting, CNC machining, and materials testing
- Boating experience
- Project management including project scope/outline & estimation
